DF WordPress template design

Appreciating his WordPress blog, New York City’s mindfulness teacher and psychotherapist Donald Fleck wanted me to redesign his whole website in WordPress.
Donald still liked the look of his website but wanted the ease of use of a CMS (Content Management System) to make content changes and update his meta tags himself.

Custom WordPress template

His hosting provider unfortunately did not support the latest WordPress version so we had to move the website and domain in order to use WordPress 3.2. Donald’s new template is based on the Twenty Eleven theme, as a child theme we future proved his site and he will be able to upgrade freely and profit from new releases and improvements as they become available.

Plugins

All in one SEO allows him to optimize and update his meta tags whenever he updates page content. We customized his contact form with Contact Form 7 and integrated social media as well as Facebook likes and Google +1.

CSS3, web fonts and functionality

To give Donald’s website a fresh new look I added CSS3 text and box shadows, rounded corners and web fonts with the Google font api and to round off the design I used JQuery show/hide collapsible panels.

Donald is happy with his new website and I appreciate that he trusts me with the 3rd website

Books I enjoyed this summer

This summer I started quite a few books, I did not finish all of them, the once I enjoyed most are listed here:

Labyrinth by Kate Mosse

Labyrinth
A mysterious adventure novel with parallel plots set in modern and medieval France. If you enjoyed The Da Vinci Code chances are you like this novel too.
I actually enjoyed the book so much that I went to France and visited Carcassonne.

Eat Pay Love by Elizabeth Gilbert

Eat Pray Love
Another book another journey… tasty read, and the film is nice too, especially the Pizza in Napels scene. The book is much deeper than the film however and if you liked the subject of the film I strongly recommend the book as well.

The Winter Vault by Anne Michaels

Winter VaultA beautifully written book about love and loss.
